A diary of minor adventures

This is a jog through things we have done while in the UK. It is for friends and family who may give a damn about what we get up to.

What happens in Vegas.

Many things  happen, some do have to stay there but there are some that are worth disclosing.  Here are a selection of harmless pics and comments  from our week .

First you have to get there, You can see cattle class, even with extra leg room, is not very Vegas.

Our first USA meal, a chilli dog for Gail and a Caesar salad for moi accompanied by some of that terrible stuff the yanks call coffee.

We were impressed by this wine cellar in a restaurant on the walk between the Luxor and the Mandalay Bay hotel.  About 5 stories high.

The lobby feature inside the Luxor, just before you get to McDonalds  and the pizza by slice shop, after you pass the slushy cocktail bar, and the Titanic and Bodies exhibitions.
The gardens of our neighbour
Our home for the week, okay but would suggest you try harder if you plan on going.  There are nicer and if you are cunning, a similar deal no doubt.
The view from our 'upgrade' room in the West Tower....
Our first adventure was to buy a three day Deuce bus pass and to take it to the Premium Outlet centre for some retail therapy.  A worthwhile trip to get our bearings.  This is the Brain study institute , may be an MRI job or two?  No it was built to look like that.

Freemont Street is the real old Vegas and has a night show on the largest vid screen in the world, we planned to return. More later.

This is one of the places we didn't try.  Heart Attack Café where people who weigh over 350 lbs  eat for free.  The whole concept put me off.

Our other neighbours, Excalibur and New York New York.
The roller coaster at NY NY was a great temptation for Gail but when she discovered it hung you upside down for longer than any other ride she decided she was not for it.   Regrets? she has a few.
Paris Paris at night across the Bellagio fountain lake.  We had a couple of glasses of wine in the Hyde bar and nightclub while we watched the water works fire off and the music play.  A must do which we did.

The Bellagio garden display was Autumnal and spectacular in a shopping mall Christmas sort of style...
The street scene outside the Bellagio onn our way home to bed.
Before we decided to do Vegas we had considered going to Veniice for our holiday so it was only right that while in Vegas we should spend some time inn the Venetian Centre.  Again an experience these photos hardly capture but do indicate the naffness.

Just because the bus goes right by it we decided we would have a look at Vegas's famous TV show Pawn Stars shop.  It looks much smarter on the TV let me tell you.

The view and red umbrellas of the Planet Hollywood which gave us lunch.

The Bellagio lobby and casino.
A wanker stand holding lobster tails and prawns at the Tender restaurant of the Luxor Casino.
A full moon  welcomed the start of our helicopter ride into the grand canyon, over the Hoover dam and Lake Mead.

Breakfast of champagne croissant and fine picnicalia amongst the wildflowers and cacti was a superb event.

The flight back was equally spectacular and took us over the downtown, Freemont Street and the Pawn shop.

This is the Brain institute from the air, it looks better.

Our preferred method of flight transport.
Gail took a tour of the Shark expo  in Mandalay Bay Casino.

Then we were back on The Strip

A booking was made in the best place to see the fountains and eat decent food.  The meal was very very good, the view thee best and the night a delight.

Then the walk after the meal to see the volcano at the Mirage

Which fires off every hour but is no less spectacular for that.
Next day was a retail day at the Fashion Centre with a stop for a quick bite of Italian...  We forgot the portion size and were stumped by the starters. Mains were attempted but defeated us to the point where we were given two bags full of our meals to consume at our later leisure.

little Gail big faux sphinx

Harley D café, a peaceful café amongst the blaring music of the strip.

The Freemont Street Experience had many performers, artists and music shows as well as the casinos strip clubs and pubs.

video the video.

And in the end, there were clouds from our room window so we knew it was Time to leave.   Nowhere does clouds like Yorkshire.
